New Paintings for MONCA Exhibit

White Wash, 44″ x 55″ oil, acrylic medium, and paper on canvas

Two of my recent paintings were included in The Pale and Beyond, an exhibit hosted by and benefiting the Museum of Northern California Art (MONCA).  Featuring paintings and sculptures by the Chico artist group The Art Officials, the exhibit was a one-night-only gala affair held in the beautiful pool-side gardens of retired opera star Gwen Curatilo.

Both of my paintings were large scale oils created especially for this event.  Between the Spaces, 44″ x 55″ oil, acrylic media, and graphite on canvas, uses stark, spare graphics to evoke the harsh landscape in which the wild horses of Nevada thrive.  White Wash, 44″ x 55″ oil, acrylic media, and paper on canvas, refers to the history of horses in the New World, from Cortez’ introduction of the modern horse to the continent in the 16th century to the current ongoing aerial roundups of the wild descendants of the Spanish horses.
